Safety Data Sheets
A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) must be established for all products classified as hazardous, before the product can be placed on the market. Fertilizers Europe recommends that SDS should also be established for fertilizer products classified as non-hazardous.
Suppliers are legally obliged to provide an SDS to their customers for hazardous products, prepared in accordance with the regulations of the country concerned. The supplier must ensure that the information in the SDS is accurate and consistent with reliable literature on correct product handling.
The SDS specifies the SHE properties of the product, and gives best practice information on the correct handling and storage. Furthermore, it specifies the classification of the product according to national and international transport regulations. The information should be given in the language of the customers, supply chain operators, and users of the product. Reference is made to the model extended SDS.
